Former long-standing Tweed Shire mayor Max Boyd AM lays bare the decades-long struggle he, other councillors and the community fought to stop corruption and the over-development of the shire by rapacious developers, who saw the picturesque Tweed as a 'honey pot' for making mega profits. The NSW government sacked Tweed Shire Council in 2005 after an inquiry it appointed found the ruling majority of councillors were merely 'puppets of developers'. Mr Boyd retired in 2008 after serving as one of three administrator of the shire appointed by the state following the council sacking. In this autobiography, Mr Boyd details the turbulence that flowed from the numerous probes and inquiries the state government conducted because of council controversies and community unrest over unpopular, rampant development. The book also details his life growing up in the Tweed Valley on his family farm where he still lives with his wife Marguerite, as well as the legacy he left for the shire after his 44-year long stint as community stalwart and leader.
