This is a collection of letters by Elias Boudinot who served as the first Commissary General of Prisoners dealing with the prisoner management of our men held by the British during the Revolutionary War. Unlike current protocols, during the Revolutionary War each side was to provide food, clothing, and other aid to its own men while they were held by their adversary. This book also includes a brief history of the Commissary of Prisoners, a document chronology, a list of further readings on Boudinot and Prisoners of War during the American Revolution, and a full name index.
