The Energy Wizard is an illustrated book that helps children learn about renewable energy and energy conservation, which the author simplifies 'Light Science.'It is the story of three 4th graders - a no-nonsense dancer, a rapping drummer, and a Shakespeare-quoting actor. Sophia, Jeremy, and Jacob take after-school classes in dance, theater and music at The Conservatory. The Conservatory is threatened by increasing costs and the kids want to help. They meet the Energy Wizard, who takes them on a neighborhood tour to discover ways to save money on energy using light science.During the tour, the kids face repeated danger from Dark Energy, an ominous regenerating ice tornado that freezes everything in its path! Three energy superheros - Kid Savings, Calora, and Solar Electric Girl help protect the kids. Each superhero has a light science power. They use these to defend the kids and to demo how their technology can save money at the Energy Saving House, Casa Solar, and the Solar Electricity House. After each demo, the kids must pass a light science quiz to reinforce what they just learned. The last house on the tour, The Earthship, incorporates all the light science technologies. After they make their energy plan for the Conservatory, a final battle with Dark Energy determines the fate of the kids, the Conservatory, and the neighborhood.
