Fortune smiled upon me in 1957 when, as a university freshman, I encountered Tempu Sensei.

At the time he was 82, and I was 18.

I devoted twelve years to studying under him until his passing.

More than a writer, he was an extraordinary teacher and eloquent speaker.

It was from him that I learned the esoteric practices of yoga, teachings so sacred that they remain unrecorded in texts and are typically withheld from the public by Indian yoga instructors.

Before his demise, Tempu Sensei honored me with a letter, a gesture I regard as evidence of his esteem for me as a distinguished pupil – a distinction shared by none other.
