'The Stonecutter' is a beautifully illustrated Japanese folktale, reminding us that though it may be human to dream of unlimited riches or power, there is both joy and contentment to be found in ordinary living. Also available is a companion tale from German folklore, 'The Fisherman and His Wife,' which has a remarkably similar message. In both books, the text and artwork are derived from the Churchill Film production, 'Folktale from Two Lands.'
