For many who look at American history and look at the tragedies that have impacted our nation, we often don't identify them in a positive way. We often look at them as negative events, such as what happened on September 11, 2001. At the time, it had crippled a nation. In the end, for those who were left behind, it was a roadmap to their futures. It was this thinking that left one man to understand the importance of servitude. With a commitment to the people, he had made the decision to leave behind the city life in order to fight for someone else instead. He wouldn't understand the external flames of his decisions quickly, but in time he would understand just how important that decision was for him to serve his country, as an American of Jewish heritage. In the coming years, he would learn the marines would open doors to the future. If he hadn't enlisted, his chances of earning recognition for his military service wouldn't have brought him to make a lasting friendship. Heartedly, he carried with him the thinking that pledging good will, faith, and hope to the powerful vision of a strong city would build on the American Dream. In the back of his mind, he remembered the words that were instilled in him in the United States Marine Corp: Leave No One behind.
