Dragons did not originate on Earth, they came to our planet centuries ago. People remember them in myths and legends and now colonists have landed on what looks like a wonderful planet. It's green and lush with animals in abundance and well suited to the colony's needs. No one realizes dragons came from this world and returned when Earth became too dangerous for them. The Guardian remembers and will not allow the young dragonets to be hurt. Having destroyed the first colony, the second has now landed. Unable to destroy the colonists again, the dragonets and the colony children find each other and become bonded for life and dragons live a very long time. Some colonists want the dragons exterminated and Stan, the colony's exobiologist, has to work hard to prevent it from happening. He must find those who are hurting the dragons and stop them before disaster strikes.
