A plot to murder hospital patients for profit. The heroine is Dr. Joanna Blalock, a pathologist in a Los Angeles hospital where people are dying for mysterious reasons. She discovers a conspiracy involving a crooked health maintenance organization (HMO), a discovery which puts her life in danger. Luckily, she has a policeman boyfriend.
