Upon learning of his father's murder, John travels home for the funeral. When he arrives, he is arrested for the crime. Witnesses pit family members against one another at John's trial. He is found guilty and sentenced to life in prison. A newfound witness convinces his legal team to appeal the conviction. This sets in motion a lengthy process with an uncertain outcome.
