Life had been exciting for Sharona "Sid" Dugan for the last ten months. But as a birthday approached, she felt bored and left out. She blamed it on the intense heat of the Texas summer. All she wanted to do was curl up at home with her precious puppy Desi and read her books on castles and quaint villages in the United Kingdom. But fate has a was of intruding. She was leery of the handsome and charming though somewhat creepy substitute pastor. A tornado narrowly missed her cherished home outside Mesquite Springs. She was called to take on another M.O.M. (Mending Others Mess) case to find a missing bracelet and a cake server. Yes, a cake server! It wasn't something Sid wanted to do, but she yielded to the encouragement of her friends. Then a child was abducted from her own church building. After that two others went missing. Law enforcement in the form of Detective Andy Jordan and Deputy Sam Culpepper warned her against getting involved in their investigation, and she agreed that locating kidnapped children was way out of her league. Still...if the situation...but no. She wouldn't interfere. Then there was the slightly veiled advances by Sheriff Chip Stanley. And most mysterious of all was the odd little "gifts" that appeared every Sunday suggesting someone knew of her interest in the land on the other side of the pond. Suddenly, Sid is no longer bored. But even Bernadine, Sony, Benny and her children couldn't keep her from wanting to hibernate with Desi and a super sized grape slushy.
