The people were friendly and helpful to the author and her sister--so much so that it was like stepping back in time. We got a lift in the rain to our lodgings, visited the history museum (with permission) when it wasn't even open, and had a tour of the island accompanied by narration paid for by the locals. Everyone went above and beyond to help make our trip the best it could be.
