The play focuses on the quest for salvation between two opposing sides, a wealthy man who owns a munitions factory and his daughter, a Salvation Army worker. Each attempts to convert the other to their viewpoint and in the process, questions the role and meaning of morality, religion, wealth, virtue, and industrialization in society.
