My Life's Journey has been influenced by my mother's life growing up in China and the hard life she and my father lived in Kingston, Jamaica. I grew up in Kingston, Jamaica, where my parents taught me what was right and what was wrong. I heard and understood the motto of Jamaica, Out of Many, One People, and tried to live my life accordingly. I was opened to experiences and different cultures. My proudest moments were enlisting in the United States Army as an ammunition specialist, working for state government in the area of social security disability benefits. I'm the proud mother of children serving in the US Navy and the US Army. I have five grown children and five grandchildren. My husband, a retired Coast Guardsman, and our three dogs live in the Florida Panhandle. THE GLASS SPIDER, a historical fiction novel spans time and distance from China after WWII to Jamaica and to the United States. Lan's story began in China, and her daughter's story began in America. After the Independence of Jamaica from Britain, the family suffered through political strife, turmoil and labor union struggles in Jamaica, and thus began the Diaspora of Jamaicans to Britain, the United States, Canada and the other Caribbean islands. The Glass Spider is a love story. Love can pervert and destroy us. The diversity of our experiences can change, pervert and destroy us. Nothing happens despite well- laid plans. "It is a story depicting the spirit of women and the will to rise above the punishing ordeal of life, to deal with what life offers and to complete the circle of life after tears. It is the coming of terms between men and women."
