Doris Davenport is a writer, educator, literary and performance poet. She grew up in Cornelia, Ga. (the oldest of seven children) and was permanently altered (and enriched) by her communities and environment in the Appalachian foothills and mountains. When she was six years old, she read Alice in Wonderland and became convinced that alternate realities are the only reality. She wrote her first short story (a gory ghost story) at the age of twelve and has been writing ever since, . She has a B.A. from Paine College (Augusta Ga.), and a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California. Currently she is an Associate Professor of English at Albany State University (Albany, Ga.), where she coordinates the Annual Poetry Festival. Doris has published book reviews, articles, essays, and collections of poetry. This is her eighth book of poetry
