A Study in Scarlet was published in Beeton’s Christmas Annual, introducing people to later world-renowned Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John H. Watson. The book is about a murder case which Holmes describes the investigation as “study in scarlet”, as there is a word, “rache” (“revenge” in German), written on the wall at the murder scene. Using reasoning, Holmes deduces the murdering processes and details of the case. As the first work featuring Holmes and Watson, dynamic between the duo was established and developed.?
