Cassandra is a no-nonsense detective who moves from New York City to Austin, Texas. She thinks it will be a nice change of pace for her and a promotion. The job is going well until she and her partner find three bodies in the lake. They have a serial killer in Austin and he is ripping out the throats of young women. Her partner thinks it may be a wild animal but she knows no animal could possibly do that kind of damage. Just when she thinks she has caught the suspect, she finds out he is not what he seems. She discovers the dark side of Austin. And it's not drug dealers and thieves but vampires, ferals, and all sorts of creatures she thought were just imaginary. Now she has to find out if the serial killer is a human or some other creature.
