To Survive the Big After

People called the Radders because humans didn't know what else to call them since they never tried to communicate with the human race. For months, every major power tried to talk to them only to die from radiation poisoning, if they got too close to them or their city sized sky ships, which were everywhere on earth. Radders thrived in radiation, while humans died from exposure from coming within a mile of the humanoid, glowing creatures. The Radders came to the Earth with just one purpose; to harvest the radiation that they thrived on. They didn't care about the humans who inhabited the planet. As a matter of fact, for the longest time, they just ignored humanity, until humanity had enough of their attempts to make contact ignored and attacked. To say the humans' attacks were weak and fruitless, was an understatement. But they did finally get the attention of the Radders. But still, for the most part, the Radders continued to ignore humans, as they gathered radiation from all sources, including nuclear reactors and weapons. They reacted ti=o human interference as a human reacted to a mosquito buzzing around their ears, they swatted the human race. Not with fly swatters, but with genetically grown monstrosities, humans called Scampers. The short legged, muscular creatures were set lose on the human race and only lived for one thing...to eat human flesh. Scampers were nearly impossible to kill, since they had thick, armor like hides and a veracious appetite for human meat. It didn't matter if the human was one hundred years old or a day. The Scamper ate anyone it could get the scent of, see or hear. And like dogs, the Scampers had incredible senses of smell, hearing and eyesight. After the Radders had collected every gram of radiation producing material from the Earth, they just packed up and left, which would seem like a good thing, except the Radders left thousand upon thousands of Scampers behind. So, even forty years after the Radders had left, Scampers were still hunting down humans and forcing everyone to stay on the move. Even fortified town or villages, with high walls were no protection, since the Scampers just climbed over them and killed and ate the human now trapped inside. Sometimes, Scampers would attack all on their own, or some times in huge packs, if there was enough human food to go around. But the safest way to live was to stay in very small groups and keep moving. Never stay in one place for more than a few days, or the Scampers who never seemed to get full, would be on your trial soon. So, live, love and above all, keep moving.
