This book, written by a highly acclaimed tsukamaki craftsman (an artisan who wraps the handle of a Japanese sword with cord, a process called tsukamaki), provides an in-depth explanation of Owari-style and Yagyu-style sword mountings (koshirae, referring to the exterior fittings of a Japanese sword) illustrated with photographs.
The author examines the distinctive features of Owari and Yagyu mountings, as well as the types of decorative elements applied to them, offering insights from his unique perspective. In the latter part of the book, he also provides a step-by-step photo guide to his tsukamaki techniques, revealing part of the intricate process behind the creation of a single Japanese sword.
