Many children will be familiar with the zebra from visits to zoos and TV documentaries on African wildlife. However here are some interesting facts about the animal that may arise from reading the story. It is generally believed that the zebra has stripes to help it camouflage itself from lions in tall grass. Although this seems odd since grass isn't white or black, lions are colour blind so this is probably true. As zebras move in large herds, it is also possible that a number of zebras standing close together look like one large animal and make it more difficult for the lion to pick out a single zebra to attack.Zebras have excellent eyesight and like many animals, they can see in colour.Copyright © 2020 Kidoo Media Inc.
