In this collection, pioneer 'mothers' of the field tell the histories of early activism and program development. Newer teachers and scholars explore the place of global women's studies in the twenty-first century, and discuss current intersections between activism and academia. Contributors examine intergenerational differences, collaborations and tensions with other disciplines, the impacts of new technologies on women's studies curricula, and the challenges of teaching women's studies since September 11. They speak from community colleges and technical schools as well as from established undergraduate and doctoral programs in urban, rural, and borderland settings.
