A Cup of Madness tells of the tragic life story of Christine Wells. When she discovers that her father, who abused her, is still alive, she decides to track him down. Her efforts end up leading to a man's death. The horror of her actions, combined with her repressed memories returning to her, result in her slowly losing her mind. The book is written from her point of view, sometime after this has happened, as she details the events leading to her being incarcerated in a mental hospital, found not guilty of murder by reason of insanity.
