Isabella, strong willed and beautiful, but always in the shadow of her sister Esmeralda. Esmeralda, the snooty, know it all, the subject of many comparisons, two girls growing side by side in Monterey Mexico, but completely apart. Isabella had resigned to the idea that this was her life, one in which her sister was always victorious. Sure she'd been accepted into the all girls' school her sister desired, but one victory in a lifetime could barely be called defeat, until the day Isabella met Francisco. The day Isabella met Francisco was bitter cold. Isabella had been standing in the frigid Monterey Street, enchanted with the beauty of the festivities; she stretched to get a glimpse of the children marching as they played their instruments. Not even the weather could have kept her away, but before her eyes could delight in the very thing she came to see a scolding sensation interrupted every sense of her body. Isabella squirmed and whimpered as she tried to comprehend the distress her body was in. That's when she saw the culprit. A young man, handsome some would say, but a real nuisance to Isabella. Little did Isabella know the changes that would occur, Francisco was smitten and it would not be long before she was too. Young love is beautiful, filled with hopes and dreams, but Isabella would soon learn that things were not as they appeared. In Isabella's mind Francisco was perfect, until the line between reality begins to blur, and Francisco can no longer differentiate between fact and fiction. At fifteen Isabella must make the biggest decision of her life. Should she walk away from Francisco or can their love conquer all, even schizophrenia.
