On or about May 1st, remove cover with vigor and place in water until saturated. Leave for 24 hours. Carefully place germinated seeds atop 2-gallon pots of soil. Cover seedings with 1/4 inch of sand or finely crushed rock. Do not cover seed with soil. Place potted seedlings near a window and water twice daily. When seedlings are about 1 inch tall, begain to fertilize twice weekly using a balanced, organic fertilizer (20-20-20 fertilizer: use one teaspon of fertilizer per gallon of water or follow directions on the container). Apply until soil is saturated. In late summear, after seedlings are at least 1 inch tall, the pots containing them can be placed outside during the day. place in a shady spot out of the wind, gradually increasing outdoor exposure.
