A Religious History of Flushing, Queens: From the Flushing Remonstrance until Today is an armchair visit to the New York City neighborhood where American Religious Freedom was born. Under the first Quakers to America and their supporters, the residents of Flushing battled Dutch Governor Peter Stuyvesant for the right to worship freely. Until today Flushing remains a bastion of religious freedom and diversity. This book visits some 30 sacred places in the neighborhood.
