Reflections in the Dark is a Lynchian horror-noir about identity, guilt, and the thin membrane between reality and the Elsewhere Fold: an elusive dimension that exists just beyond mirrors, shadows, and moments of collapse. Set against the rain-soaked alleys and sleepless streets of Chicago, the novel follows Dr. Reed Ashland, a disgraced academic whose life has been shattered by addiction, tragedy, and an obsession with the impossible. When a string of brutal killings begins to mirror the nightmares that once haunted his research, Reed is pulled into an investigation that forces him to confront the fractured edges of his own mind. Detective Maria Voss is the only cop willing to hear him out. Hardened by loss and shaped by a relentless instinct for truth, Maria finds herself drawn to Reed's strange insights and uncanny predictions. Together they navigate a maze of cryptic symbols, broken clocks, and mirror imagery, discovering a connection between the murders and a hidden phenomenon known only as the Fold, a place where time slips, reflections lie, and the dead whisper in the static between moments. As Reed and Maria close in on a killer who may not be entirely human, they are forced to confront their own trauma and the terrifying possibility that the shadows stalking them are reflections of themselves. Part psychological thriller, part supernatural detective story, Reflections in the Dark blends noir atmosphere with cosmic horror, exploring the nature of memory, grief, and the alternate selves we leave behind. With echoes of Twin Peaks, Se7en, and The X-Files, it delivers a haunting, character-driven narrative about two broken people fighting to reclaim their humanity, before the Fold claims them both. Reflections in the Dark is the debut novel in a planned series and introduces a mythological framework that expands far beyond the boundaries of the known world.
