This story written for Jack Newman's Baby Shower gift started over coffee at his great grandmother's kitchen table. In the Maritimes, a lot of ideas start at somebody's kitchen table. Jack's story is based on a true story that took place nearly 100 years ago. This was long before Jack, his parents and even his grandparents and great grandparents were even thought of. In 1927, Malcom Healy of Phinney Cove was on the same Bay of Fundy but just off the Hampton Wharf. Mac was used to the high Fundy tides and the water of the Bay. He grew up and stayed in Phinney Cove except for the years he served overseas during World War II. Mac's story can be read on a plaque placed on the Hampton wharf. The plaque which also shows a photo of Mac is taken inside for the winter months. But in the spring, once again, the plaque with Mac's story and photo can once again be viewed.
