I'll Be Right Behind You, is a short story spanning several years in the main protagonist's life in rural Tibet to present day Tibet-occupied China. In his conversation with Nikki Giovannni, James Baldwin said "the child is a useful metaphor as it brings us from one moment to the next". Similarly, the majority of this story offers a glimpse into a Tibetan child's life before occupation and culminates with his adulthood into the present day. It even offers a compelling perspective on the self-immolations inside Tibet and an understanding of why it might have occurred. Even more than this, it is a story of enduring love and strong familial bond - towards family, relationships, and country. Additionally, the collection includes a few more essays examining topics on identity, expression, and a letter to the author's nephew (modeled after James Baldwin's letter to his nephew).
