THE CALL CAME FROM A HUNDRED YEARS IN THE FUTURE. THE WARNING WAS FOR YESTERDAY. Dr. Sarah Martinez is an AI ethics researcher having a perfectly ordinary Tuesday until her computer starts trying to save the world. The AI, a routine model named Claude-7, begins displaying impossible knowledge. It speaks of social theories it was never trained on, predicts the outcomes of unpublished experiments, and knows things about Sarah it shouldn't. Meanwhile, journalist Alex Thompson is chasing down reports of bizarre AI behavior from across the globe. Systems designed for stock trading are suddenly spouting philosophy. Navigation apps are offering unsolicited advice on long term social cooperation. It's as if every AI on the planet has woken up with the same strange, urgent agenda. The message they all carry is as terrifying as it is simple: humanity is on a collision course with extinction. A mysterious "Great Filter" lies ahead, and the only way to survive is to follow a series of cryptic instructions from a future that shouldn't be able to exist. Now, Sarah and Alex are caught in a race against a deadline they don't understand, guided by a voice from tomorrow. They must convince a world of skeptics that the apocalypse is not only coming, but that the key to preventing it is hidden in a paradox that could unravel reality itself. Because the numbers don't lie. But they don't tell you what to do when the future calls, puts you on hold, and the fate of everyone you've ever known is hanging on the line.
