Hollywood makeup is not about beauty. That's the first lie worth removing. It is about believability under hostile conditions. The face must survive heat, sweat, tears, lenses, lights, dust, rain machines, continuity, close-ups, wide shots, time jumps, emotional arcs, bad sleep, worse catering, and a camera that sees more than the human eye ever should. It must remain convincing while the actor ages six years over a lunch break, bleeds on cue without staining wardrobe, looks exhausted without actually collapsing, and returns to exactly the same bruise three weeks later from a slightly different angle. Makeup is not decoration. It is systems engineering applied to skin.
