In an age captivated by artificial intelligence and genetic engineering, the concept of the technological singularity-where machines surpass human intelligence-has become a cultural fixation. But can we truly reach the singularity if we still do not understand the origin of life?



Today’s technological advances merely mimic existing carbon-based life. AI learns from human-generated data, and genetic tools edit DNA. Yet these are acts of replication, not creation. True singularity requires the emergence of life that is not a copy. Ultimately, our very existence proves that life once “appeared” from somewhere. Understanding that origin is the key.



I propose a bold solution: extra dimensions. If life came from “somewhere,” and that somewhere is invisible within our observable universe, then extra dimensions are the most plausible origin. This is a logical conclusion. Is there any alternative? Unless we resolve these fundamental paradoxes, any claim of reaching the singularity remains premature.



In other words, the singularity must be redefined as the moment we understand-and can recreate-the true conditions for life’s emergence. That breakthrough will trigger a Second Cambrian Explosion: a pluralistic era in which diverse lifeforms, not based on carbon, will emerge into our world.
