Implementing effective prevention and promotion programs for mental health is crucial, especially within the health, university, schools, and organizational sectors. Integrating mental health prevention and promotion programs within the health sector, university, schools, and organizations is essential for fostering a healthier society. By aligning these initiatives with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), we can create a comprehensive approach that addresses mental health challenges and promotes overall well-being for individuals and communities. Mental health is vital to overall well-being and is increasingly recognized as essential for sustainable development. Implementing prevention and promotion programs across various health, education, and organizational sectors aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being. First: Health Sector Initiatives—In the healthcare domain, mental health promotion can be integrated into primary care settings. Programs should focus on Screening and Early Intervention. Regular mental health screenings in primary care can help identify at-risk individuals early, allowing for timely interventions and support. - Community-Based Support: Establishing community health programs that provide resources and education about mental health can reduce stigma and encourage individuals to seek help. - Training Healthcare Professionals: Equipping healthcare providers with the skills to recognize and address mental health issues ensures comprehensive care. Second: University and School-Based Programs - Universities and Schools are pivotal in shaping the mental health of children and adolescents. The literature showed that effective programs include: - Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): Incorporating SEL into the curriculum helps students develop emotional intelligence, resilience, and coping strategies. Mental Health Awareness Campaigns: Universities and Schools can host workshops and events to educate students, parents, and staff about mental health issues and promote a supportive environment. - Access to Counselling Services: Providing accessible mental health resources, such as school counsellors or partnerships with local mental health organizations, ensures students receive the support they need. First: Organizational Strategies - In the workplace, promoting mental health is essential for employee well-being and productivity. Organizations can implement: based on the current literature, for example: - Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs): Offering confidential counselling and support services can help employees manage personal and work-related issues. Mental Health Training: Providing mental health awareness training for managers and employees fosters a supportive workplace culture and reduces stigma. - Flexible Work Policies: Implementing flexible working arrangements can help employees balance work and personal life, reducing stress and enhancing mental health. Our main focus are on promotion and prevention programs. Consequently, we are looking for longitudinal studies, systematic reviews and meta-analysis. We are aware that cross-sectional studies do not fit in this topic, and are not our main aim.
