Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was the British writer who created the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes. Conan Doyle's Holmes stories are still the standard that all detective and mystery fiction is compared to. Doyle also wrote The Lost World, a hugely influential novel that inspired Michael Crichton, the author of Jurassic Park. Doyle still remains one of the most widely read authors in all of literature.
