Chance Britton is a minor league ballplayer with major league problems-poverty, long shifts slinging dogs out of a busted food truck, a mother slipping deeper into dementia, and a girlfriend who's almost as out of reach as the Majors. Fortunately, fate throws him a curveball he can hit: clairvoyance. Suddenly, he knows where the pitch is going, where the ball will land, and where his girlfriend is hiding out. It's a gift that could take him to the top-if only everything else didn't keep falling apart. From dugouts to dive bars, triple plays to triple dates, Chance wrestles with fame, burnout, friendship, betrayal, and an uncanny gift that might just ruin his life if it doesn't save it first. He barrels toward the big leagues, and along the way encounters a cast of misfits, frenemies, bikers, dreamers, and a few other "exceptionals" like him-each gifted, each broken in their own way. But streaks don't last forever. And neither, it seems, do relationships.
