Simpson considered the expression "Fourfold Gospel" a gift from God to him. He told his New York parishioners, "I know not why the term 'Fourfold Gospel' should have been suggested by the Holy Spirit, but it seems to have been taken up all over the land...". It remains today as the watchword for the denomination he founded.
