In 1949, four innocent black youths were found guilty and sentenced for a terrible crime they did not commit. Thurgood Marshall came down to rural Florida to defend these young men more than two decades before he became the first African-American to serve on the US Supreme Court. Even before the trial was over, two of the young men were dead at the hands of the Klan and the Law.
