Yasuaki Kagii's extensive experience of and reverence for marine life afford him privileged interaction with sea-life; from charismatic anemone fish to shy marine mammals and the world's sea monsters. The level of detail and sense of intimacy captured here are hard to match. Yasuaki Kagii has won many awards such as the 1998 Anima Award, the 2001 Nature Photo Award and the 2003 Photographic Society of Japan Award and has held a number of exhibitions since 1999. For more than 10 years he has contributed to a number of printed and web diving magazines. Many photographs captured in this book are becoming records of history as many of the sights no longer exist. Deep Blue is both a celebration of the ocean and an urgent call for its conservation.
