In the mid-sixties, SSG Jerry Hill had just mustered out of the US Army. He was tired of all the wars, somewhat depressed, and felt guilty that he was still living while many of his Special Forces buddies had died. All he wanted to do was head back home, spend some time with his older relatives, maybe go to school, and live a peaceful life. Heading west towards his hometown of Rail Town, Louisiana, he passed through South Carolina and picked some cotton; Macon, Georgia and ate breakfast with bacon; and in Alabama he was pulled over by a State Trooper just to ask for his autograph. 22 hours later, Hill arrived in Rail Town. He was home, even though it was a small spot on the world map. To former Green Beret Staff Sergeant Jerry Hill, it meant everything to be back where he would enjoy peace and tranquility, escaping wars and other types of turmoil...Boy was Hill in for a surprise!
