This is a story about a scared, timid, shy child in elementary school and how he copes with school days, and later as he emerges from that shy child into a high school student a bit more confident with improved grades and a little better at sports. The setting of the hometown is in the 60s during the civil rights movement and the Viet-Nam conflict and his fears of maybe having to leave the home environment for a more dangerous one. Along with the lessons of life has brought him to the point where he is now.
