The Cat and the Wizard is the story of a disgruntled wizard and his unwanted bag of tricks. In a laundromat one evening, the wizard meets a lonely jet-black cat, with a tall silk hat, a heart full of hospitality, and nobody to share it with. Together the unwanted wizard and the lonely black cat embark on an evening of candlelight, cigars, peacocks and waterfalls, juggling turnips and sparklers and flautists and butterflies' wings. The party lasts until the crack of dawn. This toe-tapping, rhyming poetry delight is accompanied by the fabulously whimsical art of Gillian Johnson, a well-known Canadian illustrator living in Britain. The Cat and the Wizard is a wondrous, imaginative storytelling feast - sure to delight, sure to entrance, and sure to become a classic. (2001)
