In an effort to better understand the effect of methamphetamine (meth) abuse in America, the National Association of Counties conducted two national surveys in late 2005 to gauge the impact on health services. The results of these two surveys show that the meth epidemic has a broad impact on county provided services & continues to devastate America¿s communities. Two key results support these conclusions. The first survey showed that there are more meth-related emergency room visits than for any other drug. The second survey showed that the need for treatment programs for meth addiction is growing dramatically. Illustrations.
