Vanessa and Gracie met at the campus of George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. They decide to become roommates and live in a small cottage on campus. They're both from southwest Virginia and it's instantly noticeable they're pure country girls with Southern drawls. They've both been sheltered all their lives and have never ventured far from their small towns. The Washington, D.C., area is a real experience for them, but they tackle it in a "live and learn" manner. Gracie meets Manny Santos, a member of a rock band, and he invites them to leave college and sing as backup singers in his band. They agree to give up college and go on tour with the band. The tour is full of excitements, achievements, loves, losses and disappointments, and packed full of tangled stumbling blocks. This is a great story of a young woman's determination to press forward regardless of the setbacks faced in her life.
