The memories of the 1888 Jack the Ripper murders in Whitechapel remain vivid in 1892. After Superintendent Thomas Pitt gives testimony that causes a distinguished soldier to be sentenced to be hung for murder, he is transferred to Whitechapel to work undercover to investigate anarchist plots. His wife Charlotte and the intrepid maid Gracie work with him--but none of them anticipate the horrors to be revealed.
