Pat Jordan is a political consultant abandoning the Washington chaos spawned by Covid-19 when he is waylaid and dumped on a country road in rural South Carolina. There he encounters Christine Landers, a girl grieving the loss of her grandparents to the coronavirus, on her family's isolated farm. Hearts, as well as minds, are altered by the globe's new reality.
