Standing on the Edge of Life is the bittersweet story of a mid-thirties man who is constantly grappling with his own mind and his emotions. It's eye-opening and relatable to many who have suffered with anxiety and depression, as well as confidence in their ability to communicate their feelings effectively. That's exactly how Martin Baines would talk about himself if he could just find the strength to do so... Martin had it all. A good job, a nice house and a steady girlfriend. But these things were not enough for Martin to feel happy in his own skin. He's depressed, he's downbeat and heading for self destruction. He's now stuck. Having reached his mid-thirties, he's concealed far too many emotions to himself. They've been bottled up and festered for too long. Now he feels as if his life is akin to wading through a quagmire of past traumas, anxieties, grievances and a seemingly hopeless future with nothing to look forward to. But most importantly of all, he's terrified of admitting it all to himself, let alone those around him. Martin hides away in desperation, trying to find a way out. He's on the edge. He's lost any sort of human relationship that existed around him, his finances have evaporated into a poorly judged betting spree and his dignity is constantly under his own questioning. He's hatched a plan though - a very simple one at that. He wants to put an end to it all, including himself. No more thinking about what could've been. No more chasing away depressive thoughts. His haunted mind will be free from harm forever. Martin is standing on the edge life itself...
