Through the telling of 16 "fables," children are told the evolutionary history of the domestic dog and its cooperative and friendly relationship with humanity. Two legends are included: the story of Argos and Odysseus, recounted in Homer's Odyssey, and the story of Yudhisthira and his dog at the gates of Paradise, recounted in the Mahabharata.
