Ali Ismail is a refugee. In Afghanistan, the Taliban have murdered his father, and so Ali's uncle smuggles him out of the country to safety - to Australia. But instead of finding freedom, Ali is taken to a detention centre in the outback. For twelve long months he waits to find out if he will be allowed to stay.
