Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs), or for those who think the objects could have a non-physical explanation and, therefore, should be more broadly termed Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs), have been reported throughout history and continue to intrigue observers to this day. While many sightings can be attributed to natural or man-made sources-such as celestial bodies, aircraft, weather balloons, or even hoaxes and hallucinations-a small subset of cases defies conventional explanation. Despite decades of military, scientific, and civilian efforts to dismiss or rationalize sightings, credible reports persist. This makes it clear that we cannot solve a persistent problem and expect a different result by doing the same things as the authorities have done in the past. Something else is happening to convince enough genuine witnesses of the reality of the phenomenon. For a start, we cannot assume all close-range symmetrical UFOs are hallucinations. For example, the 1989-1990 Belgian UFO wave involved over 30,000 eyewitnesses, radar confirmation, and attempted military interception of a triangular craft. The numbers are far too great to rely on hallucinations as the explanation for this UFO case. Similarly, we cannot assume all close-range symmetrical UFOs are hoaxes. In particular, those close-range UFO cases discussing environmental and biological effects, such as scorched vegetation, altered soil chemistry, magnetic anomalies on nearby metal surfaces, and even radiation burns and radiation poisoning following an encounter with the objects is not supporting the hoax explanation. While people can, and do, hoax UFO reports, not all cases lend themselves to this explanation. With witnesses describing electrical buzzing sounds, oscillating glowing regions on the surface, the presence of protrusions around the circumferential edge arranged geometrically to control speed and direction, and much more, is there an electromagnetic technology just waiting to be uncovered in the UFO reports? This book explores how likely electromagnetism can explain UFO observations, providing for the first time, a scientific framework to explain the consistent and extraordinary observations reported by witnesses worldwide. And most importantly, a means by which scientists can test the validity of the electromagnetic principles.
