Astronauts land on Mars just as someone blows up two satellites in low Earth orbit which causes the Kessler Effect to interrupt communications with all space activities. Now the ISS and Mars Mission I on the surface of Mars cannot communicate with ground control or NASA. Will the astronauts on the ISS be able to return home after the International Space Station is hammered with orbital debris? Will the astronauts on Mars be able to survive without support of NASA? Will they be able to return to the Earth if the Kessler Effect is still surrounding the Earth with circling orbital debris moving in excess of 17,000 miles per hour? Can they surviving on the surface of Mars with only the food and equipment they brought with them?
