With his renomination secured, the President (code named “Rambler”) plans a secret meeting down the hotel hall to celebrate. It's not intended to be a photo op though the rendezvous is filmed. Then the film goes missing and turns up in a rental car. Three bodies later, a vacationing couple disappear as they flee the beaches and sun of San Diego seeking sanctuary in the wilderness of Southeast Alaska. Secret lives unfold as police, Secret Service, and “Sunshine,” the shadowy international painless “dispatcher,” track them relentlessly toward a final encounter secretly witnessed.
