In 2019 Larry's wife, Maren, published her memoirs for her two boys, Blending Two Cultures Under One Roof. Encouraging Larry to write his memoirs, he didn't feel a great passion for it. But in 2024 his beloved "Schatz" passed away after 55 years of marriage that started in Germany when an American West Point graduate fell in love with a German schoolteacher. As part of his grief journey and new perspective on leaving a legacy for his boys as well, Larry embarked on the journey of telling his life story and the other half of his and Maren's love story. There Will Never Be Another You, is both a testament to his long and happy life intertwined with Maren's and a nod to the song he was playing on the piano when his Schatz found her perfect time to pass peacefully.
